Saint-Claude Hermitage

Saint-Claude Hermitage is a small historic religious retreat located on a wooded hillside above Sennecey-le-Grand. Originally used as a solitary place of prayer and retreat, it overlooks the old Hermitage Valley and offers a peaceful natural setting.

Saint-Claude Hermitage is a modest stone hermitage situated on the slopes west of Sennecey-le-Grand. Traditionally used by hermits or religious figures seeking isolation. The structure stands near the ruins of the former Hermitage Chapel and sits beside old pathways connecting Sennecey to the countryside. Surrounded by forest and rising terrain, the place served both spiritual and agricultural purposes, with traces of small terraces and ancient footpaths still visible.

Today, it remains a quiet heritage spot preserved by local associations.
