Bouteille Cross

Bouteille Cross was erected in 1814 near Vieil Moulin. It was a resting place for coffin bearers. It is now marked by stone base and steps.

Bouteille Cross was dated 1814. It  stands at the corner of several streets, halfway between the hamlet of Viel Moulin (part of the parish of Laives until 1789) and the Church of Saint-Martin. Men carrying coffins would stop here to rest and recover. Today, the site has lost its significance. Only a truncated low wall and a six-step staircase leading to the foot of the cross remain.

The base is engraved on all four sides: "This cross was erected to the glory of God and the Blessed Virgin, in honor of Saint John and Saint Peter, by Jean Ferray, born in Servelles (Nanton) in 1814, by Pierrette Pautet, his wife, and Marie Ferrey, their daughter, landowners in Viel-Moulin in 1870"; "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us." "New Bottle Cross"; "This cross was given to the hospice of Sennecey le Gd by J. Ferrey Pautet, founder of this cross."
